Staff Security Engineer, Threat Detection & Security Operations

The engineering organization is looking for a senior security engineer to help strengthen its security operations, detection, and response capabilities across cloud infrastructure, applications, endpoints, and identity systems.

We’re looking for a hands-on Staff Security Engineer to own and evolve threat detection and security operations.

You’ll define how security signals are collected, monitored, and acted upon across the environment. The role combines security engineering, infrastructure, automation, and incident investigation, with significant ownership over the systems and practices used to identify potential threats.

This is a senior individual contributor role with broad technical influence. You’ll work closely with infrastructure and engineering teams while helping establish standards for detection, monitoring, and security automation.

• Significant experience in security engineering, infrastructure engineering, or SRE with a strong security focus
• Experience designing or improving security monitoring, threat detection, or SIEM systems
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, including IAM, networking, logging, and security controls
• Experience with endpoint detection and response platforms
• Strong experience working with logs, events, and telemetry to identify meaningful security signals
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, Go, or similar languages
• Experience building automation around security operations and detection
• Understanding of common attacker behaviors and techniques
• Experience designing alerting strategies and improving signal-to-noise
• Ability to investigate complex or ambiguous security events
• Strong systems thinking and ability to work across infrastructure, applications, and endpoints
• Comfortable operating with significant ownership and technical autonomy
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence engineering teams

• Experience implementing detection-as-code practices
• Experience building or scaling security operations capabilities
• Experience with cloud-native security tooling
• Experience defining security metrics and measuring detection and response effectiveness
• Experience mentoring other engineers or establishing technical standards

• Up to $300K base compensation + equity
